iTorrent Removed from AltStore PAL in 2025 – How to Safely Reinstall on iPhone & iPad”

If you follow my testing on iOS apps, you probably know I’m a huge fan of lightweight, open-source tools. One of my favorites has always been iTorrent, the mobile torrent client I rely on for downloading large legal files on the go.

Recently, I noticed it vanished from AltStore PAL, and from my testing, it wasn’t just a random bug, Apple had intervened behind the scenes.

Here’s what I found and how I got iTorrent working again on my devices without jailbreaking.

Why was iTorrent removed from AltStore PAL?

From my experience, the removal wasn’t about legality. iTorrent itself is completely open-source and safe. The issue is Apple’s strict compliance rules in the EU. AltStore PAL operates under these regulations, and apps that could theoretically facilitate sharing copyrighted material, like torrent clients, are considered “high-risk.”

Can you blame Apple here? The EU is particularly twitchy regarding internet stuff lately, so Apple wants to take no chances. While there are people who use torrent files for actual legal file transfers, many do not.

In other words, even though iTorrent is legal, keeping it on the store could put AltStore PAL’s entire EU operation at risk. That’s why it disappeared so suddenly. I think Apple’s decision also ties into international sanctions rules, since the developer’s account spanned multiple regions.

Why I Use iTorrent

For me, iTorrent is unmatched for mobile torrenting. I’ve tested many clients, and here’s why it stands out:

  • It handles magnet links and .torrent files flawlessly.
  • Downloads continue in the background, with notifications so I never miss completion.
  • Files are neatly integrated into iOS Files app, making management easy.
  • I can stream while downloading, which I often do with large ISO files or open-source media.

WARNING: Use .torrent files LEGALLY! Depending on your location, piracy can carry serious legal consequences!

In my testing, the recent updates have made it faster, more stable, and smoother than ever, especially on iOS 18 and 26.

How I Reinstalled iTorrent Without AltStore PAL

After spending some time experimenting, I’ve found multiple ways to get iTorrent back. Here’s what worked best for me.

1. Sideloadly

Sideloadly has been my go-to tool for years. It’s straightforward, works on macOS and Windows, and uses Apple’s free signing certificates.

My process:

  1. Grab the latest iTorrent IPA from a trusted source.
  2. Open Sideloadly and connect my iPhone.
  3. Drag in the IPA and start sideloading.
  4. Once installed, iTorrent was ready to use from my Home Screen.

From my testing, downloads were smooth and I didn’t encounter crashes.

2. TrollStore (Permanent Installation)

For devices on iOS 14–17.0, TrollStore is a game-changer. Unlike temporary sideloads, TrollStore keeps apps installed permanently, no certificate renewal needed. You can install it using either TrollRestore or TrollInstallerX, but only on supported iOS versions.

It’s sad that Apple managed to finally patch the CoreTrust bug that powered TrollStore (it only took them 2 times!!! to get it right), but there are other less powerful alternatives available. If you do happen to have a compatible iOS version, here’s how to install iTorrent with it.

Here’s what I did:

  • Installed TrollStore on my compatible iPhone (again, iOS 14.0 up to iOS 17.0 with some exceptions).
  • Saved the iTorrent IPA to iCloud.
  • Shared it with TrollStore, which handled installation automatically.
  • Opened iTorrent and confirmed all features worked.

I like this method because it’s fully device-based so no PC required, and I never had to worry about certificates expiring.

3. Other On-Device IPA Tools I Tested

I also experimented with several other installers, all of which worked on iOS 18 and 26:

  • Esign: Lightweight, simple, manages certificates.
  • Feather: Modern signer, handles free and paid certs.
  • Gbox & Gbox Plus: Fast IPA signing, reliable on the latest firmware.
  • Ksign, FlekStore, SideStore: Great for sideloading custom IPAs on-device.
  • LiveContainer: Lets you test apps without fully installing.

In my opinion, having multiple options is essential—Apple’s restrictions make relying on a single tool risky.

My test results

From my testing, iTorrent is still fully usable on iOS, even after AltStore PAL pulled it. Apple’s crackdown is frustrating, but with tools like Sideloadly and TrollStore, you can keep control over your apps.

I’ve tested iTorrent on iOS 26 beta as well as iOS 18.6.2 on iPhone 16e, and it seems to be fully functional.

For anyone who downloads large legal files on iPhone or iPad, I think iTorrent is still the best solution, and the process to reinstall is easier than many realize if you know the right tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is iTorrent and how does it work on iPhone?

In my testing, iTorrent is the most reliable torrent client built specifically for iOS devices. It supports magnet links and .torrent files, lets you download in the background, and integrates seamlessly with the iOS Files app. From my experience, it’s lightweight, open-source, and optimized for iPhone and iPad, making it perfect for downloading large legal files like Linux ISOs or open-source media.

Why was iTorrent removed from AltStore PAL in 2025?

From my research, Apple considers torrent clients “high-risk” apps under EU app store rules. AltStore PAL had to remove iTorrent to remain compliant and avoid risking its developer account. In my opinion, the removal was due to regulatory compliance, not because the app itself is illegal—it remains fully open-source and legal to use.

Can I still install iTorrent on iPhone or iPad after AltStore PAL removed it?

Yes. You can reinstall iTorrent using tools like Sideloadly, TrollStore, or other on-device IPA installers such as Feather, Esign, and SideStore. These methods work on iOS 14 through iOS 26, and allow you to run iTorrent even without AltStore PAL.

Is iTorrent legal to use on iOS?

I think this is important to clarify: iTorrent itself is completely legal and open-source. The app is simply a torrent client. Downloading copyrighted material without permission is illegal, but using iTorrent to download legal files is perfectly fine. From my testing, it runs safely on iPhones and iPads.

Can I stream torrents while downloading on iTorrent for iPhone?

Yes. From my testing, iTorrent supports streaming content while downloading, which is one of its most useful features for mobile users. You can watch or preview files without waiting for the full download, which is perfect for large ISOs or open-source video content.

Does iTorrent work on the latest iOS 26?

In my testing, iTorrent runs smoothly on iOS 26 using on-device IPA installers like Feather, Esign, or SideStore. Downloads are stable, and background downloading works as expected. This makes it fully compatible with the latest iPhones and iPads.
