iOS 17 is coming with brand new features such as a redesigned lockscreen, a new smart display, accessibility features, next-generation CarPlay, and more. Every year Apple steps up its game when it comes to iOS by making it more and more powerful.
This iOS 17 will likely drop support for iPhone 8 and iPhone X, but some of the rumors speculate that iOS 17 may, in fact, support the same devices that iOS 16 supports. We will learn more about compatibility after the WWDC23 event.
Today, June 5th, Apple is holding the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC23) event which will unveil iOS 17 Developer Beta with all its new features. At the end of the event, Apple will release Developer Beta 1 for iOS 17 so that devs can start updating their applications and games for iOS 17.

iOS beta builds were historically hard to obtain. Before iOS 17, the only official way to install a developer beta of iOS used to be by enrolling in the Apple Developer Program which costs $99/year.
With the developer account, you would also get access to tvOS betas and publishing apps to the AppStore.
Starting with iOS 17, Apple officially made iOS Developer Betas completely free, so all you need to do is to log in with your Apple ID on the Apple Developer Portal and download the iOS Developer Beta build. You no longer need to be a paid subscriber to the Developer Program to install the betas.
I do not recommend getting the iOS 17 Developer Beta from anywhere else. In fact, I do not recommend getting the Developer Beta at all if you’re not a developer, no matter how many new features are there.

Is iOS 17 Developer Beta safe to use?
Since iOS 17 Developer Beta is meant to be used only by App Developers, it’s not meant to be stable or usable for the general public. Developers install these betas on development devices, not their personal daily drivers, so they don’t really mind the bugs or battery drain.
Beta iOS, especially early Developer Beta versions, tends to be pretty buggy and the battery drain tends to be insane. I would highly recommend that you wait for the Public Beta in July if you want to use iOS 17. By then, many of the bugs will be ironed out, App support will be better and you may have a much better experience. Not to mention that Public Beta is also free.
