The popular PaleRa1n jailbreak utility based on the checkm8 exploit was updated to v2.1 beta 2 a few hours ago.
While this isn’t a particularly huge update with lots of features, it does address an important bug that affects devices configured to use the 12-hour time format.
On these devices, the loader application would crash making it unusable. The Loader application is quite important. It’s the app you launch every time you jailbreak with PaleRa1n.
From inside the loader application, you can install Sileo or Zebra Package Manager, or you can restore the root file system which essentially removes the jailbreak, installed tweaks, and all their files.
I’ve personally tested v2.1 beta 2 and can confirm that the bug causing the loader app to crash on devices that use 12-hour time is now fixed. My devices can now open the loader app properly.
As you can see, the loader application is quite important, and fixing the bug causing it to crash is crucial.

What iOS versions can you jailbreak with PaleRa1n?
Since PaleRa1n Jailbreak is based on the checkm8 BootROM exploit, it only supports devices with A11 or older SoC.
Right now PaleRa1n is the only jailbreak available for iOS 18 in the form of iPadOS 18 on iPad 7th Generation. This is a great device to have as it can run both iOS 18 and be jailbroken with this tool thanks to the A10 chip inside.
PaleRa1n can jailbreak iOS 15.0 all the way up to iOS 18.3, but only on checkm8-vulnerable devices, so A8 through A11.

PaleRa1n is a semi-tethered rootless jailbreak that comes with Sileo and Zebra package managers, as well as the Procursus Bootstrap.
From my testing, PaleRa1n is one of the most stable jailbreak tools available to date. This is not surprising considering that the tool uses checkm8 which is a hardware exploit that cannot be patched by Apple.
The patches applied by this jailbreak can be done very early in the boot process which means almost any security technique introduced by Apple can be disabled by it, making it very reliable and powerful.
I’ve been using this jailbreak on my iPad 7th Generation running iPadOS 18.1 for a while now and so far I’ve had an uptime of 32 days and 7 hours without any hiccups or reboots.
Installation of this jailbreak tool is also particularly easy thanks to the automated macOS / Linux install script:
sudo /bin/sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://static.palera.in/scripts/install.sh)"
That’s all it takes to get the jailbreak up and running. Let me know below if you have any issues with the jailbreak.
