The popular iOS sideloading utility, TrollStore, has just received a new update with version 2.0.15 available now on GitHub.
The update fixes an issue where an incorrect error description is provided when installing an application that contains more encrypted binaries.
It appears the bug was first introduced in version 2.0.14, released a couple of days ago to fix inaccurate pre-applied exploit type identification, fix ldid, and the CoreTrust bypass sharing the same error code.
Aside from this fix, TrollStore v2.0.15 also adds an option in the Root Helper to specify root helper and persistence helper executable paths when installing a persistence helper.
Where to download TrollStore 2.0.15?
If you want to just download the files for TrollStore, the project is available fully open-sourced on GitHub.
You can download the TrollStore Helper DEB and TAR files from the Releases tab on the GitHub repo. The Releases also include a Persistence Helper binary.
How to install?
If you don’t know how to install TrollStore on your device, or which iOS versions are compatible, please head over to our TrollStore installation guide.
What is a Persistence Helper for TrollStore?
Since TrollStore uses exploits (like a jailbreak) to function, rebooting the device clears out the exploit’s effects and makes apps installed via TrollStore no longer work.
To fix this issue, we install a small helper app that usually replaces a system app such as the Tips app, and that one is called a persistence helper because it contains all the logic necessary to allow TrollStore to re-exploit the device once it is fully booted.
This allows apps installed with TrollStore to never expire and never be disabled after a reboot.
Without a persistence helper, you would have to manually re-enable TrollStore after every reboot before apps installed with it would work.
Can you install TrollStore on iOS 17?
Not at this time. While TrollStore does support iOS 17 and the CoreTrust bug that allows TrollStore to exist IS present in iOS 17.0, there is no installation method available at the moment for iOS 17.
An installation method would require a kernel exploit such as KFD or MDC that allowed apps like Misaka and Cowabunga to exist. Once we get such an exploit for iOS 17, TrollStore will be installable on iOS 17.0. TrollStore will not be installable on iOS 17.1+ though, as the CoreTrust exploit was patched.
