What is an iOS Beta?

Apple’s iOS is a cutting-edge mobile operating system that powers millions of devices worldwide. As technology constantly evolves, Apple regularly releases beta versions of iOS to give developers and adventurous users an opportunity to test new features and improvements before the official release. To participate in these beta testing programs, users need to download and install iOS Beta IPSW files on their devices.

In this guide, I will guide you through the step-by-step process of downloading and installing iOS Beta IPSW files on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Keep in mind that beta versions might contain bugs and glitches, so it is essential to back up your device before proceeding.

Why should you install iOS 16.6 Beta 1 for Jailbreak purposes?

Today, developer @_p0up0u_ released two major iOS Kernel exploits compatible with iOS 15.0 up to iOS 16.5. However, if you already updated to iOS 16.5.1, iOS 16.6 Beta 3 and up, or iOS 17 Beta, there is no way for you to downgrade back to iOS 16.5 or lower.

However, in a twist of fate, iOS 16.6 Beta 1 is still SIGNED and it is vulnerable to one of the exploits released today by @_p0up0u_. Of course, iOS Beta IPSW files aren’t very common and you can’t simply OTA update to iOS 16.6 Beta 1 because newer betas are available now.

With that in mind, I’ve prepared a full list with all the download links for iOS 16.6 Beta 1 IPSW files. Download the IPSW for your device and simply restore with iTunes (on Windows) or Finder (on macOS).

If you updated to iOS 16.6 BETA 2, downgrade to iOS 16.6 Beta 1! It turns out the exploit is very unreliable on Beta 2 compared to Beta 1 so you must downgrade to benefit from this jailbreak. While iOS 16.6 BETA 2 IS compatible with the exploit, it’s very unstable! Downgrade to Beta 1 now, while it’s signed!

Do this NOW if you’re on iOS 16.5.1 or newer and you want jailbreak. Once iOS 16.6 Beta 1 stops being signed (soon), you won’t be able to do this anymore and you will be stuck on a non-vulnerable / non-jailbreakable firmware.

iOS 16.6 Beta 1 is SIGNED!

Final thoughts

With the unexpected release of two new kernel exploits for iOS 16, it’s now possible to hope for an iOS 16 jailbreak. We still need a PPL / PAC bypass, but the kernel exploits are a huge step forward and now more than ever it’s important to stay on the correct iOS version.

If you are running iOS 16.5.1 or newer, download the IPSW for your device above and install it as soon as possible before Apple stops signing it for good.
